Driver Pierre Luc Roy and Lizo Maggs, a five-year-old pacing mare trained and owned by Normand Plourde, went into the books as the final winners at Hippodrome de Quebec as the track wrote the final chapter of its 114-year history on Sunday afternoon
.
Pascal Berube, with 16 wins during the 10-day meet, secured the drivers' title, but Sylvain Lacaille made it close. A win Sunday with A Cs Winner in the fifth race pulled Lacaille to within one, but neither driver scored in the card's five final races.
The wagering handle was a season-high $53,349.
Hippodrome de Quebec will now be supplanted by the new Quebec City arena.
Standardbred racing in the province is expected to resume sometime in the next few months at Hippodrome Trois-Rivieres, which the Quebec Jockey Club has an agreement to purchase.
