Entranced was in position to sweep this year’s Tie Silk Series thanks to impressive triumphs in the preliminary legs, but So Not Cool burst that foe’s bubble with an off-the-speed score in the $35,800 final on Monday at Woodbine Racetrack.

So Not Cool, who entered the final with an 0-for-5 record, took full advantage of a second-over trip en route to notching the 5-1 score in 1:55.3 for Team Baillargeon.

The Muscler shot to the front from Post 9 and took the field past the quarter in :26.4 before releasing the heavily-favoured Entranced to the lead at the mid-way point in :56.4. Entranced was still in charge of the speed at the three-quarter pole in 1:25.4, but he was feeling first-over pressure from Justcallmeronald. So Not Cool tracked that foe’s cover from second-over.

Entranced was called on for more coming off the final turn, while continuing to feel the heat from Justcallmeronald. The pressure eventually got to Entranced who gave way to Justcallmeronald, but he was then collared in deep stretch by So Not Cool who got up to win by a head. Justcallmeronald held on bravely for second, while Entranced faded to finish third.

So Not Cool, a three-year-old son of Muscles Yankee-Alidade, was driven to victory by Mario Baillargeon for trainer Ben Baillargeon. Awesome Acres Stdbs of Rockwood, Ontario owns the career winner of $23,650. So Not Cool paid $15.60 to win.
