Md Hardlys Success doubled up in the $1,550 Winners Over Pace at Exhibition Park Raceway on Saturday with another front-striding score
.
With Gilles Barrieau back in the sulky, the six-year-old son of Western Success left from post seven in the eight-horse field and carved out fractions of :30.2, 1:01.3, and 1:31.3 en route to a 2:00.4 triumph over the 'good' track rated two seconds off. Michaels Pleasure (Todd Trites) followed nearly two lengths behind while Man In Pink (Mark Haig) finished five and a half lengths back in third.
Entering the race off a victory in the top class last weekend, Saint John's 2011 Old Time Robbi Award winner was the odds-on favourite and paid $2.80 to win.
Md Hardlys Success is now a perfect two-for-two racing for trainer Richard Allaby this year. The winner of 23 races lifetime and $66,339 in purses is owned by Bill Smith and Wayne Watson.
For Barrieau, the victory was one of three on the 10-race card in his second weekend back in the bike.
