Brothers Rene and Simon Allard teamed up to win three races on Kawartha Downs’ 11-dash program including
the $16,500 Preferred Trot and the $12,000 Preferred 2 Pace.
In the featured trot, Titan Park went wire-to-wire to score in a career-best 1:54.4. The six-year-old Credit Winner gelding left from Post 3 with Simon Allard at the reins and carved out early panels of :27.3 and :58 before feeling pressure from the first-over Sensual Hall (Fred Brethour). As Titan Park passed three-quarters in 1:25.4 and turned for home, he shook off his challenger and used a :29-second final frame to seal the deal by a length and a quarter over the pocket-sitting Indiana Hall (Brad Rae). Sensual Hall finished third.
Rene Allard trains and owns the winner of 33 races and over $188,000 in purses with Ferne and Jack Frydman of Thornhill, Ont. In 13 starts this year, Titan Park has recorded seven wins, two seconds and two thirds earning over $50,000.
One race earlier in the Preferred 2 Pace, Foxy Move survived a first-over journey to win in 1:52.3 for the Allard duo with Aqua Powered (John Thomson) closing well for second and Ghost Hunter (Aaron Byron) finishing third.
Both Rene and Simon share ownership of the six-year-old gelded son of Cape Cruiser with Ferme Bureau Et Fils Senc of Saint-Leonard and Robert Cloutier of Montreal, Que. The win was his 19th of his career lifting his bankroll to over $124,000. In 13 starts this year, Foxy Move has compiled a record reading 8-3-2 earning over $60,000.
Berosus also won his second race assignment for the Allard team. Making his debut for Rene, who trains and co-owns, the five-year-old Angus Hall trotter won for the first time this season and posted a new mark of 1:56.2.
Rene’s training triple bumped his 2009 win total to 90 and his earnings to over $689,000. Over his career spanning six years, Rene has sent 482 winners postward earnings over $2.7 million in purses.
Simon drove his fourth winner on the card in the 11th race aboard the Sophie Desroches-trained Keystone Best Bet (1:55.4), who he co-owns. He has also recorded 90 wins this year earning over $617,000 and is looking for his third straight million-dollar season. Simon has racked up 435 wins in the bike earning over $2.7 million in his short career.
