Trainer Jamie Copley picked up three wins on Sunday, May 3 at Flamboro Downs as the in-form conditioner upped his seasonal win rate to 28.1 per cent.
The first win for Copley came in the opener as Nugget Hugit ($2.70) won by open lengths for the third straight start, taking the lead nearing the quarter and extending away by five lengths in the final panel to score in 1:54.4. Samuel Fillion, who was on board for all three Copley wins, piloted the three-year-old Cattlewash-Thong gelding to his third career win in five starts.
Copley’s next tally on the 11-race card came in the ninth race, with Arson Seelster ($7.20) circling three-wide on the last turn and sprinting to the line for a 1:55.2 victory. The four-year-old son of Sportswriter-Azure Seelster tallied for the fourth time in five starts this year.
Sees The Bay completed the triple for his conditioner as the four-year-old pushed to the front at the quarter and held the lead all the way home to win in 1:58. The son of Downbytheseaside-Graceful Vision took his first tally of the year in 11 outings.
Copley is now 18-for-64 in his first training season since 2022. The resident of Kenmore, Ont. has amassed 1,237 career victories in 5,717 starts and booked earnings of $6,102,146. Sunday’s triple was his second of the year at Flamboro.
