Taking The Miki A was victorious in the $16,666 featured pace at Tioga Downs on Sunday, May 4, taking a new lifetime mark in the process.
Leaving from post five, the 1-5 favourite Taking The Miki A (pictured above) and driver Tyler Miller were part of a three-way tussle for early command with Oaxacan Dream M (Braxten Boyd) and Won Surreal Deal (Colin Kelly), ultimately seizing the lead by the :27.2 opening quarter. With a lap to go, Won Surreal Deal launched a first-over challenge, but Taking The Miki A dug in to maintain a narrow advantage at the :55.4 half and widened her lead to three-quarters in 1:23.4.
Turning for home, the Jeff Cullipher trainee unleashed a devastating burst of speed, drawing away to win by open lengths in 1:52.3 over a fast track. Alta Madeira N (Mike Merton) was second-best, while Red Carpet Ready (Ridge Warren) rounded out the trifecta.
Owned by Pollack Racing LLC, the seven-year-old Taking The Miki A notched her second win of the season and 15th lifetime victory.
Miller also clicked with Divine Right ($3.30), Red Blooded ($2.40), and Devious Babe ($3.20) to complete his driving four-bagger.
Driver Braxten Boyd matched the feat with wins aboard Fashion Terror ($6.50), Raven Banner N ($4.80), BB Lucky Boy ($3), and Building Boost ($2.60).
Live racing resumes at Tioga Downs on Friday, May 9, with a first post of 6:15 p.m.
