Pacing mare Farmers Tuition etched her name into harness racing's record books by virtue of her win Friday night at Woodbine Racetrack.
Sylvain Filion guided the seven-year-old daughter of Apaches Fame to victory in 1:51, the fastest mile on record for a free-legged pacing mare.
Richard Moreau - who scored a training triple on the card - trains Farmers Tuition, a homebred owned by breeder Debbie Bird along with Montreal's Gerrie Tucker.
Another Ontario-bred, Zooka holds the record for harness racing's fastest free-legged mile on a five-eighths mile track by virtue of his 1:49.3 mile at Kawartha Downs. The sport's fastest free-legged performer of all time is Major Hottie, owned by Thornhill's Larocque Racing Stable Inc. Major Hottie scorched Woodbine Racetrack in May of 2010 with a free-legged mile in 1:48.3 .
Congratulations to all.
