"I think they're going to have to [keep an eye out for me]. We're all going to be cognizant of the fact that we're all out there to win....they better take up notice that I'm going to be there and I'm going to be trying to win
and represent Canada."
Despite being chosen to represent Canada in previous editions of the World Driving Championship, there's no less shine on the prize for driver Jody Jamieson in 2011. In fact, since he's competing for the title instead of being selected by a committee and a formula, you could say that it's even more desirable for the multiple O'Brien Award winning reinsman who aims to add that accomplishment to his already-impressive resume this Saturday at the National Driving Championship in Charlottetown, PEI.
"I don't think it matters what race you're going to miss this week or next week, or whatever. I've said it in the past, I've said it in print and I'll say it again: these races are all going to be here next year when you come back around. You only live once and I believe you're only going to have the opportunity to represent Canada once....I don't mind that I'm not first choice, I'm just happy that I'm being asked, I'm happy that i was asked to represent Woodbine in the Regionals and I'm thrilled to represent Ontario. I'm going to try my hardest and I'm going to bring my A game."
Jamieson also praised the tracks in PEI for setting up "Pennies For Cancer", an initiative that calls for people to bring their pennies to the track and donate them to cancer research. Jamieson would like to see other tracks pick up the cause.
"Each Canadian has about $7 worth of change rolling around in their respective couches so imagine if we could get some pennies to put in these barrels at Charlottetown for the NDC. I think it's such a great cause. They're always thinking about others in PEI and it's such a great place to be."
