Several members of the Indiana Standardbred Association and the Celebrity Standardbred Drivers associated with the Fab Five promotion at Hoosier Park will lend a helping hand to Habitat for Humanity Saturday, May 7.

The horsemen will be at the facility from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. assisting with the work that is currently being done to a single family home located on Lincoln Street near downtown Anderson, Ind. Volunteers from both entities will pitch in and assist the current work force on the project.

“This project is something we’ve been working to schedule for a while,” said driver Brandon Bates, who organized the day for both organizations. “It’s important to us to give back to the community, and being able to assist Habitat for Humanity is a great way for us to show the area around Hoosier Park that we appreciate and support them.”

The Indiana Standardbred Association and the Celebrity Standardbred Drivers are both very active in community involvement throughout the Central Indiana area. Each driver associated with the Fab Five promotion selects a charity to support throughout the season, participating in several events to raise money for their organization. 'Charity Chariots' is one way for the drivers to add money to their charitable efforts, as it offers guests a trip around the track at Hoosier Park for a $20 donation, all of which goes to their selected charity. Charity Chariots, now in its third year, is scheduled to get underway Monday, May 30 prior to the 5:30 p.m. post time. The event will be held from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. on the Memorial Day card as well as each Saturday in June.
