All eyes were on Oney Hall in his quest to extend his winning streak to eight-in-a-row versus Free For All foes in Monday’s $39,000 main event at Woodbine Mohawk Park, but Patriarch Hanover rained on that favourite’s parade with his upset triumph for a white-hot trainer.

Richard Moreau, who sent out a total of four winners on the card, watched Doug McNair drop into an early five-hole with the 9-1 shot while the 2-5 favourite sailed along on the lead through fractions of :27.3, :56.1 and 1:23.4.  Oney Hall was then confronted in deep stretch by Patriarch Hanover and Dream Nation, with the former using a closing quarter of :27 to post the upset win by a half-length margin over Oney Hall in 1:51.4.  Dream Nation came up a length short while claiming third prize.

Patriarch Hanover, a five-year-old son of Father Patrick-Personal Style, bettered his 2022 record to 3-3-4 from 15 starts with the victory.  Brad Grant of Milton, Ont. owns the career winner of $488,351.
