Brocks Fortune pulled off a mild 9-1 upset in Sunday night's $7,500 Preferred 3 Pace at Flamboro Downs, scoring in wire-to-wire fashion.
Driven by Jonathan Drury, Brocks Fortune ($21.50) left for the lead off the gate and carved out fractions of :27.4, :57.1 and 1:27.2 over the sloppy track en route to earning his second win in his last four starts. The final time of the mile was 1:57.2. Mach Pride followed one and three-quarter lengths behind in second off a ground-saving trip while Monte Cristo tipped out four-deep to come from the backfield and finish third, just edging out the pocket-sitting Putnams New Year and a three-wide Web Cam.
Brocks Fortune is now a 14-time career winner with purse earnings totalling $277,307. John Cecchin trains the five-year-old son of Stonebridge Regal for the Mark Austin Stables Inc., Noblock Racing Stable, and breeder Robert Chapple.
