Popular New Brunswick catch-driver Mark Haig had the hot hands at Fredericton Raceway on Saturday as he registered a driving triple.

Haig played spoiler in the top class as Todd Trites looked to be on his way to his 2,000th career win with Joseph Michael. Haig got up to win with newcomer J Rs Hurricane.

Jean Belliveau owns and trains the five-year-old son of Mach Three, who stopped the clock in 1:57.2 to record the fastest mile of the afternoon.

Haig's other wins came with Skippy in 1:58 and Nucoz Typhoon in 2:02.

Other winners on the eight-dash card included Ultimate Spirit and Stephen Trites (2:01), American Terror for Ed Harvey (2:00.3), trotter Justplainshea for John Stewart (2:02.2), Couleur Magnifique with Lonny Stokes (2:01.3) and D Gs Crosby with Phil Reid (2:02.2).

Trites still needs that elusive single win to record his milestone of 2,000 career wins and will attempt the feat at Truro Raceway on Sunday.
