Luck wasn’t on the side of the North American hopefuls entered in this year’s Elitlopp, as Define The World, Lucky Jim and Enough Talk failed to advance to the final of Sunday’s Elitlopp in Sweden
.
Ilaria Jet and Jean Michel Bazire captured the first elimination over Triton Sund, Pagadi Now and Quarcio You Chene. Lucky Jim was parked three wide every step of the mile and finished seventh in the group of eight.
Torvald Palema and driver Åke Svanstedt took the second elimination winning over Brioni, Iceland and Beanie MM. Define The World, who left aggressively before releasing Beanie MM to the top, did not advance for driver Paul MacDonell and trainer John Bax. He lacked racing room late in the mile and wound up finishing fifth. The Peter Kleinhans-trained Enough Talk was seventh.
Here is the post draw for the final:

Wow - Define The World BLEW
Wow - Define The World BLEW by the horse in front of him right after the wire. If he'd been able to come up the inside (his only shot), he'd have made the final for sure. Sometimes even a perfect steer (2-hole trip) gets beat in traffic - and the driver of Quarcio Du Chene took the inside route away from Paul in the late going.
Disappointing for Paul, John and Al - but hope it doesn't dampen a great time in Scandinavia.
