The low 14 per cent takeout early and late Pick-4 pools have become a staple at MGM Northfield Park. On Wednesday, May 3, regular players of the Northeast Ohio facility will have an opportunity at some significant value, as the early Pick-4 beginning in Race 2 will feature a carryover of $22,535.
Longshots were aplenty on Tuesday, with a favourite only winning one of the four races in the sequence that began in Race 11. Back In My Day (Kurt Sugg) kicked things off with a jaw-dropping performance, winning by 4-1/4 lengths in 1:55 after being parked the mile from post seven.
The last two legs of the Pick-4 featured monumental upsets, with 59-1 Parklane Knight (Eric Tharps Jr.) making up steady ground throughout the mile to get by Pound Sign (Chris Lems) late to win by a length in 1:54.3. Closing out the wager was Cherokees Gorgeous (Sugg), who was another that had to make up a lot of ground throughout the mile. He nailed Arthur Pendragon (Aaron Merriman) on the wire, winning by a neck in 1:57.
Wednesday’s $1 early Pick-4 is estimated to have more than $100,000 in the pool. Free past performances are available at handicapping.ustrotting.com.
Live harness racing resumes on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. MGM Northfield Park currently races on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
