Billy “Zeke” Parker, Jr. is moving ever closer to the 10,000 win plateau. At Monticello Raceway on Monday afternoon, Parker reined three more winners and now needs just seven to reach 10,000 career driving victories
.
And when he reaches that milestone he’ll be just the ninth driver in the history of the sport to have 10,000 or more wins.
Parker started the afternoon like gangbusters winning both ends of the early double. He won the first race with Woody Hoblitzell’s and Linda Bushu’s Moonlit Tori in 1:58:4 and came back the next race ad scored a 2:03 triumph with Jerrod Blackman’s Monterey Mollie.
Victory number three on the card didn’t come until the12th and final race when Zeke reined Horseman’s Financial Agency and Premier Racing Stables Sweet Precious One to a three-length win in a time of 2:01:2.
“I don’t want to jinx myself, but if I get lucky I could reach 10,000 (wins) later this week or maybe early next week,” Parker said in the locker room after the final race. “I(ve) got eight drives again tomorrow and a few have a good chance to win.”
