Frank Chick's Muscle Dynasty ($8) and driver Tony Morgan won the $24,658 Open Trot on Wednesday, May 28 at Harrington Raceway, prevailing in 1:57.2 over a 'good' racetrack.
When the starting gate folded, She Is Strong (Montrell Teague) left strongly from her rail position, securing a two-hole trip behind Muscle Dynasty, who made the lead in an opening quarter in :28.4. The field was single file most of the way to the half-mile in :58.1 while Dyladmar (Russell Foster) and Lindseys Pride (Jason Green) headed up the outer flow to three-quarters in 1:27.4. Dyladmar put serious pressure on Muscle Dynasty in the stretch but was rebuffed as Muscle Dynasty remained on top for a half-length win. Dyladmar was a game second with favourite Rivers (Corey Callahan) third.
Trained by Walt Callahan, Muscle Dynasty earned his fourth win of the year from 17 starts. The seven-year-old Muscle Hill-Miss Liv gelding pushed his seasonal earnings to $83,206 while his lifetime bankroll climbed to $524,017 with his 26th career triumph.
The win was one of four on the 15-race card for Morgan, who had a pair of victories for trainer Vincent Bradley.
In the sub-featured $19,863 Winners Over Trot, Swan Flyer ($9.60) and driver Allan Davis surged by in mid-stretch to score a 1:55.1 win by 1-3/4 lengths over Hustlenomics (Corey Callahan) and favourite Vlahos (Montrell Teague). The Tyler Davis trainee, a six-year-old Swan For All-Free Wheeling gelding, notched his second (consecutive) win of the season in seven outings for owner J And T Davis.
Allan Davis ended the evening with three wins, joining Corey Callahan with a driving triple.
