Longn Winding Road, a 2010 Autumn Stakes starter, made his season's debut a winning one for trainer-driver Phil Pinkney in the featured $1,225 Winners Over contest at Truro Raceway on Sunday afternoon

Longn Winding Road, who picked up a fifth place cheque in his December stakes start while under the care of Joey Shea in Ontario, turned in a pair of winning qualifying efforts for Pinkney at Truro before taking on the top contenders at the track this afternoon. The four-year-old son of Mach Three-Wishiwasa Cowgirl sat fourth for most of the mile before kicking home to score the 1:58.1 triumph by three-quarters of a length. Putnams Force (Ryan Ellis) wore down early leader and eventual third place finisher St Lads Dagwood (Ernest Laffin) for his third consecutive second place finish.
Longn Winding Road paid $4.50 to win as the fan favourite. The victory was his 14th from 27 career starts and bumped his bankroll to $28,996 for KPD Standardbreds of Lower Onslow, N.S.
