Matt Trapper used gate speed tactics to grab the lead and hold off pocket-sitter Blue Star Outlaw (Jason Hughes) to win the Saturday night $2,000 feature pace in 1:57.1 at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park

.

Brian Andrew mapped out the trip to score his second win on the program for his co-owners Bill Andrew, Jim MacPhail and George Rogers of Calgary, Alberta. Ricarras Sun (Walter Cheverie) was third. Matt Trapper has won half of his 10 starts this year.

Andrew also piloted newcomer Warrawee Jade to victory in the evening's $1,400 Open Trot division. The mare endured a parked-out trip to secure the victory by a neck in 2:02.1 over Hall Trot (Todd Walsh) and Saulsbrook Balance (Willie Murphy). Blake Andrew of Montreal, Que. shares ownership of the six-year-old daughter of Angus Hall-Independent Dame, who earned her first win in 11 seasonal starts.

Racing returns Wednesday at Red Shores Summerside featuring the Ruby Chappell Stakes. Post time is 7 p.m.
