Four Starz Sue survived a tough first-over grind to hang on late and win the featured $25,000 Open Handicap pace on Friday night at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs

.

Leaving from post position #6 in a field of nine as the 9-2 second betting choice, Four Starz Sue settled in fourth around the first turn before tipping out to challenge the pacesetting All Over The Place on the front stretch. The two battled evenly for much of the race until several closers lined up behind the pair at the top of the stretch. But Four Starz Sue, driven by Anthony Napolitano for trainer Carmine Fusco, outfinished them all for a win in 1:50:3.

Tasmanian Daniel finished a neck back in second while 6-5 favourite Tivoli Hanover had to settle for the show.

Owned by Four Starzzzz Stable LLC of Hauppage, New York and sired by The Panderosa, Four Starz Sue won for the third time in nine tries this year, although he’s a perfect three-for-three in the meet at Pocono. The six-year-old gelding now owns 22 lifetime wins and career earnings over $468,000.
