Multiple stakes-winning trotter Keg Stand sold for six figures in an online auction on Tuesday afternoon, May 28. 

Keg Stand was purchased for a winning bid of $232,877 via onGait.com by EVM Racing, LLC (Edward Mendez) of Delaware. A multiple stakes winner in Pennsylvania and Kentucky, the now five-year-old son of Bar Hopping has blossomed into a top older trotter winning more than $200,000 in 2023 and more than $74,000 so far in 2024. The bay gelding took his 1:50.4 lifetime mark as a four-year-old, winning a leg of Graduate Series at The Meadowlands. Trained by Nancy Takter for owners Black Horse Racing, Christina Takter and John Fielding, Keg Stand entered the auction coming off a win at Yonkers Raceway in the $47,945 Invitational last Thursday, May 23. A career winner of 13 races with 12 other top three finishes from 44 starts, he has earned just shy of $650,000.

Also among the auction's top sellers on Tuesday, Unforgettable 4,1:53.2f-'24 ($169,666) was purchased for $92,329 by Jeff Fought of Indiana from owner and driver Chris Page of Ohio. The four-year-old daughter of Helpisontheway has chalked up six wins from 12 starts and more than $108,000 so far in 2024 while racing in Ohio.
