Thirteen divisions of the New York State Fair Stakes highlighted a Monday afternoon racing program at Tioga Downs

Posting the fastest mile of the day was Ideal Griff (Jim Morrill, Jr.) who with the help of the extreme heat blasted to a new lifetime best in the first race of the afternoon. Morrill put the colt on the front end early and cut through fractions of :26.3, :55, and 1:22.3 before sprinting away clear of the field in 1:51. Steve Elliot trains the three-year old son of American Ideal–Little Betty, who posted the second win of the season and the fourth of his career.
Posting the fastest mile for three-year old filly pacers was L Diz (Shawn Gray) who captured the third division of the NYSF. Leaving from post position number six, L Diz and Gray shuffled off some swift fraction of :26.2, :54.4, and 1:22.2. Around the final turn Gray got some separation from the field and was able to hang on at the wire in a new lifetime best of 1:51.1. Jim Graham trains the daughter of Artiscape–Hosel Rocket for Ted Cupp of New York.
