Trainer Ryan Miller enjoyed the spotlight on Wednesday evening (May 27) at Scioto Downs, notching a training treble with his first three starters of the night, capped by a 1:54 score from Keystone Eureka ($6.40).
After Hoochie Girl ($2.80, Kayne Kauffman, 1:54) and Rockemsockem Scott ($11.00, Cameron McCown, 1:53) prevailed narrowly for Miller in their respective maiden events, Keystone Eureka completed the 32-year-old trainer's hat trick in resounding fashion, edging clear of her nine rivals for a comfortable score in her first start since September.
The three-year-old daughter of Somebeachsomewhere was sent by Trace Tetrick to seize the lead from Babys In Black (Chris Page) just beyond a :28.3 first quarter, and the pair travelled unchallenged through the final six furlongs en route to a 2-1/4 length victory. Babys In Black held second over the mildly rallying Lookintomyeyes (Tyler Smith).
Now a three-time winner, Keystone Eureka found victory as a freshman in a Stallion Series event at Pocono and a division of the Standardbred at the Delaware County Fair. She has finished first or second in eight of her 10 career starts.
