Assigned the outermost post, Flying Isa N overcame a wide trip and vaulted past dueling leaders to take the $8,100 Preferred Handicap Trot on Sunday, May 26 at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

Driver Stephane Brosseau floated the 11-year-old Pegasus Spur gelding towards the back of the pack but sat wide while Talbotcreek Suzie parked 2-1 favourite Lmc Mass Gem to a :27 first quarter. Talbotcreek Suzie continued to keep Lmc Mass Gem wide and slowed to a :56.3 half while Flying Isa N recouped ground to catch the stalled cover into the backstretch.

Lmc Mass Gem remained second moving to a 1:25.2 third quarter while Brosseau edged Flying Isa N three wide into the final turn. The Yves Tessier trainee surged to the front turning into the stretch and opened one-and-three-quarter lengths on Lmc Mass Gem in second. Pocket-sitter Revenue Agent took third.

Owned by Francois Morin, Flying Isa N won his fifth race from 19 starts this season and his 42nd from 156 overall, earning $573,582. He paid $8.20 to win.

Odds-on favourite Rub Ofthe Green N later overcame broken equipment and capitalized off a second-over trip to narrowly win the $8,100 Preferred Handicap Pace.

Atomic Million Am took control before losing the lead to Saulsbrook Peach past a :27 opening quarter. Saulsbrook Peach then maintained his speed heading to a :55.4 half. Canadian Edition initiated the two-wide charge after the leader moving to the second turn, supplying cover to Rub Ofthe Green N and Musselsfrmbrussels through the backside.

Canadian Edition pressed Saulsbrook Peach passing a 1:24.4 third quarter and pulled to within a neck of the lead rounding the final turn. Rub Ofthe Green N fanned off cover into the stretch and edged to the lead while Musselsfrmbrussels rallied wider late to finish second by a head in the 1:53.4 mile. Bestofbest Hanover, sitting third at the pylons, closed for third.

An eight-year-old gelding by Mach Three, Rub Ofthe Green N races for owners Luc Loyer and Ciro Gentile. He won his third race from seven starts this season and his 25th from 58 overall, earning $179,531. Jonathan Lachance drove the $2.80 winner for trainer Sylvia Toth.

Trainer Jamie Copley continues to win many races at Rideau Carleton Raceway as he slammed another three bagger during the 13-race program. Copley sent odds-on favourite Asterism ($2.50) to a wire-to-wire win in 1:54.1 and won the next race with Hp Pandora ($3.30) going wire to wire in 1:55. Speed then carried Copley’s third winner, Oxford Comma ($5.70), to a 1:56 victory later in the card.
