After a spectacular opening day on the long weekend, live harness racing resumed Sunday, May 27 at Clinton Raceway. The weather made the Clinton, Ont. track a great place to send the afternoon with a 10-race card of trotters and pacers on track.
Each Sunday during the live harness racing season Clinton Raceway hosts a different group or organization as part of the Day at the Races fundraising program. Victim Services hosted a trackside BBQ, bake sale and 50/50 that assisted in raising just shy of $1,000 for the Huron County organization that assists individuals and families in times of crisis.
On track, local horses that made an appearance in the winner's circle were Mach Dynasty, a three-year-old bay filly, owned by Catherine McClure of Clinton, trained and steered to victory by George McClure in the second race. Bj Savanah left from post position one in the first, and managed to pull out a show for owner and trainer Heather Toll of Clinton
The trackside Super Sunday Show, kept race fans entertained between the races, and Ann Hurley of Stratford took home the $400 gift certificate from Groves TV and Appliance, the shows sponsor for the day.
Reminder to all race fans that there is no live racing Sunday, June 3. Racing resumes Sunday, June 10, post time 1:30 p.m.
