Both providing off the pace victories, Flying Isa N and Cobalt Man took the $8,400 Preferred Trot and $8,250 Preferred Pace respectively on the Sunday, May 27 program at Rideau Carlton.

Parked after floating for position from post 8, Flying Isa N gradually advanced uncovered toward the front, held by Pasadena Star, all while towing stablemate Upvote Hanover second over. Through a quarter in :27.3 and a half in :57.3, Flying Isa N swiftly took control moving to the backstretch and opened a three-length lead on Raising Richard, who circled to the lead at the half, and Upvote Hanover passing three quarters in 1:25.4. The 10-year-old Pegasus Spur gelding had a five-length advantage on Upvote Hanover at the top of the stretch, winning by four-and-one-quarter lengths at the line. Upvote Hanover took second while Pasadena Star came back for third.

Owned by Francois Morin, Flying Isa N, trained by Yves Tessier, won his fourth race in 15 starts this season and his 30th in 114 starts overall, earning $498,634. Driven by Stephane Brosseau, he paid $8.80 to win.

Cobalt Man catapulted off cover second over in progress to a 1:52.4 victory in the Preferred Pace over pacesetter Stonebridge Beach. Making the lead after parking three wide through a :26.1 opening quarter, Stonebridge Beach faced no challengers through a :55.2 half and 1:23.2 while Cobalt Man, sent the odds-on favourite, rode loose cover provided by Ufdragons Rocket first over three lengths off the lead. Into the stretch, trainer-driver Guy Gagnon tipped the 10-year-old Rocknroll Hanover gelding towards the center of track, sprinting towards Stonebridge Beach to then best him by a neck at the wire. Print Media took third.

Winning his seventh race in 18 starts this season and his 45th in 231 overall, Cobalt Man, racing for Ecuries Guy Gagnon Inc., Gestion Louis Latulippe Inc. and Gestion Bruno Blouin Inc., has earned $565,318 in his career. He paid $3.90 to win.
