Clinton Raceway featured a full 13-race card of Grey/Huron Stakes worth over $100,000 in purses during Sunday afternoon's harness racing card.
After completing a sweep of the City Of London Series on Friday, Sonic Breeze turned in the fastest mile of the day
winning her $8,000 fillies/mares pacing division in 1:58 flat over the 'good' surface, which was rated one second slow. Mark Williams drove the four-year-old Mach Three-Precious Breeze mare for trainer William Kirkpatrick and owner-breeder Pamela Loomis.
Driver Trevor Henry collected the most wins with trotting gelding The Aviator ($3.40, 2:06.3), pacing gelding Rustlemewithenvy ($6.10, 2:01.2), and pacing filly Alexacam ($4.80, 2:00.3).
Other winners from the male pacing division were Mumaslittlelad ($19.20, 2.01.3), Macktwowilldew ($3.40, 2:00.2) and I Wanna Be Geared ($14.50, 1:58.3) while So Sure ($2.80, 2:05) and Call Me Hanover ($11.40, 2:05.2) won the remaining male trot events. The other female pacing divisions were won by Lucky Jingle ($5, 2:03) and Trouble With You ($4.40, 2:01.3), and the female trotting divisions went to Winbak Audit ($3, 2:02.4) and Joyful Road ($39.50, 2:04).
The Grey/Huron Stakes is for Ontario sired four-year-olds and younger that are non-winners of $5,000 lifetime as of midnight April 25, 2012. The second leg will be held at Hanover Raceway on Saturday, June 2. The male division will wrap up back at Clinton on Sunday, June 17 while the females will face off in their finals at Hanover on Saturday, June 16.
