'East Coast Warrior' Wins CDP Preferred

Outlawpositivcharg, with trainer Terry Gallant in the bike, won Saturday's featured $2,200 Preferred Handicap Pace at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park

in a season's-best 1:57.4. Fred Lamont of Calgary, Alta. is the owner.

Gallant sent eight-year-old gelding Outlawpositivcharg, dubbed the "East Coast Warrior" by track announcer Vance Cameron, to the front and stole rated fractions of :28.2, :59.4 and 1:29 to notch his 44th lifetime win over Blue Star Outlaw and Carnivore. The 2-5-4 triactor paid $166.20.

The $1,800 Open Trot class went to Saulsbrook Balance for trainer Cindy MacDonald of Montague, P.E.I. and her co-owner Tanya MacKinnon of Souris, P.E.I. The trotter charted his first win of the 2012 season turning back Julaire and Warrawee Jade. Willie Murphy drove the seven-year-old Nikes Image gelding.

Driver Mark Bradley recorded a driving double on the program. Bradley, who will raise money for the Drive for Charity promotion this season, won with FF Stena in race six for owner Johan Moase of Cornwall, P.E.I. and returned with Kingdom Come in race 10 for owners Jack Hynes and Evan Ford of Charlottetown.
