Top drivers Dave Palone and Yannick Gingras had a few frightening moments as they made their way to London, Ontario to drive on the Molson Pace card
.
“I came up with Yannick and we landed in London about an hour ago and had no brakes on the right side of the plane so of course missed the runway and had to push the plane in the grass and we made it, “ said Palone who will pilot Atochia in tonight’s $300,000 Molson Pace final.
Gingras won both Molson Pace eliminations with Atochia and Foiled Again and elected to stay with Foiled Again giving the drive on Atochia to Palone who is familiar with the six-year-old Dragon Again gelding who will go over a million in life earnings with a top three finish tonight.
“He’s just kind of been an underachiever his whole life which is hard to believe given that he’s earned a million dollars. As a baby I raced him for George Teague. He’s just kind of been the bridesmaid in a lot of these big races but I think he’s career sharp right now and he probably doesn’t get enough credit.”
The Molson Pace Final goes as race 10 tonight at Western Fair, with an estimated post time of 10:10 p.m.
