Jlrl LLC’s Rock On Moe notched his second win in the last three starts at Harrington Raceway Monday in the $17,000 Open Pace in 1:51.3.
The Rose Smutz trainee was sent for the lead as the 6-5 post time favourite from post four to fractions of :27.2, :55.4 and 1:23.4. Meanwhile last week’s winner, Just A Jolt, mounted his attack second-over behind a stalling first-over Adventure Bound. Just A Jolt tipped three-wide on the final turn and gobbled up ground late but was unable to reel in pacesetter Rock On Moe who held on by a long neck for driver George Dennis. Poker Hall followed in close behind Just A Jolt for third.
The six-year-old Rocknroll Hanover gelding has banked more than $53,000 thus far in 2014 after a banner 2013 season when he earned $136,302.
Meanwhile, two Harrington regular drivers are approaching win milestones. Jim Morand, who won Race 3 with Dreamfair Kovu and Race 13 with Chang Dynasty, is closing in on 9,000 wins with 8,997. Morand will become just the 15th driver in North America to reach 9,000 wins.
Bret Brittingham, who won Race 1 with People Are Crazy and Race 4 with As Bad As Thunder, has 1,996 victories in his pursuit of 2,000.
Allan Davis had four winners on the program. Trainer Wayne Givens and Legacy Racing of Delaware had three wins.
