Boasting a career mark of 1:48.4, there is no doubt that retired O'Brien Award-winning mare Hana Hanover knew a thing or two about getting up and flashing some quick speed. According to her co-owner, Stan Klemencic, she seems to have passed that go-getter spirit on to her first foal

.

Klemencic told Trot Insider that Mistletoe Shalee, Glen Garnsey Memorial, Bluegrass Stakes and Breeders Crown winner Hana Hanover delivered her first foal --- an Art Major filly --- on April 13. If early indications are worth anything, the youngster is eager to get at it.

"I was told that she went up exceptionally early," said Klemencic, a resident of Trenton, Ont. that owns Hana Hanover along with David Reid of Glenburnie, Ont. and David McDonald of Cornwall, Ont. "If she is anything like her mother, you know that she is excited to get up and get going."

From 57 lifetime starts, Hana Hanover compiled a record of 16 wins, 12 second-place finishes and 10 thirds, good for over $1.2 million in earnings. She took her mark of 1:48.4 while winning the Breeders Crown Open Mares Pace as a five-year-old in 2009. At the time, the clocking was a World Record for aged pacing mares.

"We're all excited," Klemencic told Trot Insider. "We're not big in numbers with our operation, but we're all about the quality."

Klemencic also told Trot Insider that Hana Hanover is being bred back to Art Major at Blue Chip Farms.
