Despite spending the mile riding on the rim, Totally Ripped marched away from the foes he faced in Thursday’s $8,500 Preferred 3 for trotters at Flamboro Downs.

Totally Ripped left out from Post 7 and found himself sitting fifth and parked while Waikiki Hanover carved out the opening quarter in :28.3. Waikiki Hanover then sped through middle splits of :58.1 and 1:27.2. Totally Ripped was fourth and parked at the half, and then third and outside at the three-quarter pole before eyeballing the leader and then using a :30.2 closing panel to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Mass Balance in 1:58.1. Bred For Greatness rallied to finish third.

Richard Moreau trains the seven-year-old son of Muscle Mass-Fin De Maye for Don Leschied of South Woodslee, Ont. Alfie Carroll mapped out the winning trip for the gelding who is 2-for-3 this season. The 15-time winner has banked over $170,000 to date.
