Macca Lodge in New Zealand, in a joint statement with Brittany Stallion Management, has announced that a limited supply of frozen semen from the late, great Hanover stallion Cantab Hall will be available to Southern Hemisphere breeders this fall.
This follows last week’s announcement from Brittany Stallion Management that Perfect Sting’s frozen semen will also be available at Macca Lodge.
In regard to Cantab Hall, Macca Lodge’s co-proprietor Brent McIntyre said the farm is nothing short of “honoured” to be able to offer the global trotting superstar to Down Under breeders. “He’s perhaps the greatest trotting stallion to ever be offered here,” he said.
“Cantab Hall’s credentials as a sire of stallions is well known,” said McIntyre, “but not to be forgotten are his feats as the broodmare sire of the great mares Manchego and Atlanta.”
Art Zubrod of Brittany Stallion Management agreed, also saying that he’s excited to see how a sire like Cantab Hall can change the trotting breed in New Zealand.
Both parties stressed that the supply of frozen semen is limited, and as Zubrod put it, “When it’s gone, it’s gone.”
A U.S. Trotter of the Year and Hall of Fame racehorse, Cantab Hall went on to become a breed-shaping sire who has produced the winners of more than $118-million including 11 millionaires. His famous sons and daughters are led by Father Patrick (sire of highly regarded Greenshoe) and Hambletonian Oaks winners Wild Honey and Lifetime Pursuit.
The go-to for breeding to Cantab Hall and Perfect Sting, Macca Lodge is a family-operated farm that encompasses 600 highly fertile acres of Southland pasture. The property is the largest breeding base and foaling facility in the South Island and provides every amenity.
