My Hero Ron Wires Open Pacers

My Hero Ron upset race favourite Sectionline Bigry to win the $18,000 Open Pace at Scioto Downs on Saturday (May 23).

The son of Well Said - Erma La Em launched to the front and fronted the field to a quarter in :26, leading by two lengths at that station. General Dolan attempted a first-over attack after My Hero Ron hit the half-mile marker in :54.4 and third station in 1:22.

GD Western Joe made a two-wide sweep in an effort to catch My Hero Ron, but his competitors were no match. My Hero Ron stretched his lead to two lengths to win in 1:50 over GD Western Joe and Gerado.

My Hero Ron was driven by Aaron Merriman and is trained by Danny Dubeansky for owner Brian Witt. The eight-year-old pacing gelding now sits just shy of millionaire status with $999,663 in career earnings.
