CC Racing and Jo Ann Looney-King's Newborn Sassy improved to 2-for-2 in 2017 with a 1:53 win in the $15,000 Mares Open at Harrington Raceway Tuesday.
Hostess Lisa marched to the early lead from post four in :28.1 to the opening quarter mile mark and led the field of six to the half-mile in a leisurely :57.2. A daughter of Western Ideal, Newborn Sassy notched her 17th win in 31 career starts for trainer Jim King, Jr. Both of her seasonal wins have come at Harrington. She paid $2.40 to win.
On the undercard, George Teague, Jr., and Teague Racing Partnership's Miss Me Yet ($8.40, Montrell Teague) won a $10,000 conditioned pace in 1:53.1 for trainer Brenda Teague.
