The Patti Harmon stable was on a roll on Sunday (May 22) at Tioga Downs, winning one-third of the afternoon's races including the featured $12,000 Open Handicap Pace with Son Of A Tiger N.
Driven by Mike Merton, Son Of A Tiger N ($6) took the early lead but Rebellious (Wally Hennessey) took over just before hitting the first quarter in :26.3.
PL Ozzy (Aaron Byron) then took control as they went by the stands for the first time and led to the half in :54. Rebellious came first-over down the backstretch and led to three-quarters in 1:21.2.
As the field made the turn for home, Son Of A Tiger N came flying three-wide and blew right on by them like they were standing still. He cruised down the stretch to win in a lifetime-best 1:50 flat. Franco Totem N (Marcus Miller) came up to finish second. Lanjo Lee (Leon Bailey) finished third.
Son Of A Tiger N is an eight-year-old gelding by American Ideal trained by Harmon for Harmon Racing Stable, Oxford Racing Stable and Lightning 5 Racing Stable. The win was his third this season.
Merton also combined with Harmon on the nine-race card to finish first with One Off Delight A ($8.80) and Highrthananeagle A ($3.20). He picked up one more victory on the card with the Gaston Lareau-trained Thedoginthefight ($5.20).
Live harness racing continues at Tioga Downs on Friday (May 27), starting at 6:15 p.m.
