He hadn’t raced at Hippodrome 3R in five years, but Pablo Angus looked right at home Tuesday night.
Sent off as the 2-5 favourite, the 11-year-old captured the sixth race, a $2,600 trot, by a half-length in a time of 1:58.4 for driver Rheo Filion.
It was the 43rd career victory for the former Quebec Sires Stakes star, who over the past five years has raced almost exclusively, and with considerable success, at Saratoga racetrack in New York.
A winner of more than $790,000 in his career, Pablo Angus is the track record-holder at Hippodrome 3R, having trotted a mile in 1:56 in his last appearance in July, 2008.
The gelded son of Fortuna Winner is owned by Mario Bourgea of Stanbridge East, Que.
