Veteran driver Mark Beckwith entered Thursday afternoon’s program at Saratoga Raceway needing just a single victory to reach a major milestone, and he celebrated
that victory in Race 5 behind pacing mare Windy City Paige.
Beckwith worked out a perfect, pocket trip for the four-year-old daughter of Cole Muffler, who found late room and used a :28.2 final frame to post the 1:57.3 decision.
It was the 11th lifetime victory for the pacer, but more noteworthy is the fact that it was the 4,000th career win for Beckwith. He went on to post two more wins later on the card to bring his overall total to 4,002.
The Howell, New Jersey horseman is on the verge of a major money milestone, as well. Going into this afternoon, Beckwith’s had sat behind the winners of more than $19.9 million in earnings.
