Richard Moreau trainee American History backed his pocket-pouncing victory in the Preferred 2 last week with another pocket ride to paydirt in winning the $48,000 Free For All Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday night (May 20).
Stablemate and 2-1 favourite Wheels On Fire forged to the front with American History tucking behind to a :27.3 first quarter. Wheels On Fire rolled up the backside under minimal challenge through a :55.3 half and was yet to see a rival to three-quarters in 1:23.1. So Much More tried to gain first over around the final turn but was one paced as the two Moreau trainees peeled away for home. Driver Trevor Henry angled American History from the pocket and left Wheels On Fire in his dust to post a 3-1/2-length win in 1:50.2. Momas Son Byrne gave chase from third and So Much More settled for fourth.
Brad Grant owns American History, an eight-year-old stallion by American Ideal who won his 39th race from 125 starts and has now banked $1,657,945. American History paid $8 to win.
The pacer is expected to make his next start at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Friday, May 26 in the 2023 Camluck Classic.
