Assigned the outermost post in the $14,000 Mares Open Pace, Ohio-shipper Cenalta Diamond fared the sloppy conditions to post an eight-length victory at Running Aces on Tuesday, May 21.
Sent as the 9-5 co-favourite, the daughter of Allamerican Merlin led the field nearly every step and gradually expanded her lead in progress to a 1:55.1 mile and her fifth win from 17 starts this year. Stablemate Pull The Shade gave chase in second while Place N First took third. Owned, trained and driven by Tim Maier, Cenalta Diamond has now earned $55,974 this season.
Drivers Nick Roland, Dean Magee and Steve Wiseman all completed a driving double on the Tuesday card.
Live Racing returns to Running Aces on Saturday, May 25 with a first post of 6:00 pm (CT) and featuring a carryover in the .20-cent Jackpot Pick-5 wager of $1,476.59.
