It may come as news to some that one of the continent’s most popular harness racing announcers is also a published author.
A report by The Times Leader explains that Pocono Downs Track Announcer Jim Beviglia has already released one book and that his second is due to be released next month.
Beviglia’s first book, ‘Counting Down Bob Dylan and His 100 Finest Songs,’ was released in 2013. His second book, ‘Counting Down Bruce Springsteen and His 100 Finest Songs,’ is due out in June.
The Times Leader article discusses Beviglia’s passion for calling the races at Pocono – something that he truly loves.
“I always tell people that the easiest races to call are the best ones,” he was quoted as saying. “I don’t have to embellish. I just have to describe and tell people what is going on. That’s why it’s been great. I just try not to get in the way of the races because they are so exciting. They tell the story for me.”
