UPDATE: Arch Madness Uninvited

Published: May 20, 2010 08:23 pm EDT

Less than 24 hours after an invitation was offered and accepted, Arch Madness will not be headed to race overseas

.

Fresh off his dazzling victory in last weekend’s $220,000 final of the Arthur J. Cutler Memorial at the Meadowlands, Arch Madness earned an invitation to race in the Elitlopp at Solvalla Racecourse in Sweden. On Thursday, that offer was accepted. On Friday, that offer was rescinded.

The two-time O’Brien Award winner became the sport’s trotting performer of the season when he scorched the New Jersey oval in 1:51. In the process, he knocked off the sport’s top ranked horse of 2010, Lucky Jim.

Arch Madness was to be the fourth North American trotter to earn an invite to the famed trotting event. The other representatives are Lucky Jim, Define The World and Enough Talk.
