So Long My Love captured Thursday’s $11,000 Fillies and Mares Open Pace at Northfield Park, and she did so in wire-to-wire fashion for driver Greg Grismore.
The daughter of American Ideal-Letmedowneasy started from post four and led at every call, posting fractions of :27, :56.1, 1:25 en route to the career-best clocking of 1:53.3. So Long My Love was a neck better than Up Front Kellie Jo, with Sweetheart Dance taking home third prize.
Thursday’s win was the fifth victory this year, and ninth career score for So Long My Love. The triumph bolstered her lifetime earnings to $54,253 for owner/trainer Scott Cox of Streetsboro, Ohio. She paid $27.00 to win.
