On Wednesday, May 1, the Illinois Senate voted 32-20 in favour of a bill, which would allow video lottery terminals to be installed an operated at state racetracks.

An article by the Belleville News-Democrat explains that the bill now has to be approved by the House and then Governor Pat Quinn for VLTs to become a reality at Illinois raceways.

The report explains that the piece of legislation, Senate Bill 1739, also calls for five new casinos in the state.

Gov. Quinn has not been supportive of expanded gaming in the past.
