After settling for back-to-back runner-up efforts in the top trot class at Rideau Carleton Raceway, Seeyou Men rallied to get all the marbles in Thursday’s $10,500 Preferred Handicap.
Trainer/driver Guy Gagnon blasted to the early lead from Post 6 with Seeyou Men, who threw down a :27.4 opener before taking a back seat to Black Tie Bash. It was Black Tie Bash who then chopped out middle panels of :57 and 1:26 before coming under attack in deep stretch from Seeyou Men. That pocket-sitter used a final frame trotted in :30 to prevail by a head over Ripped And Ready in 1:56.1. Race favourite Black Tie Bash was a lapped-on third.
Catheline Pelletier and Chantal Gravel share ownership on the 10-year-old son of Muscle Mass-Seeyouinthecircle who improved his 2022 record to 4-3-1 from 12 starts with the win. The 40-time winner has banked over $405,000 to date.
