Travis Cullen trainees had a productive Monday afternoon at Alberta Downs thanks to a three-win performance on that track’s 10-race card.

Cullen, the recipient of the 2013 Horsemanship of the Year in Canada, watched Philip Giesbrecht catch-drive Sing Like An Angel to a 1:57.4 victory in Race 5 to get the ball rolling for his productive barn.

It was Cullen doing the driving with the other two winners, however. Spoons got up to win Race 7 by a nose in 1:58, and Bob Watts drew away to a two-length win in the finale. He stopped the teletimer in 1:57.

From the 162 starters Cullen has sent out so far in 2014 he’s managed to for 55-for-162 for purse earnings in excess of $188,000. The most amazing number on his resume this year is the lofty UTR that now stands at .482.
