Goodnite Goodluck won the $11,000 Open Pace in 1:55.2 at Buffalo Raceway Saturday night giving driver Kevin Cummings his third of five wins on the program.
The win was the fifth this year for Goodnite Goodluck, a seven-year-old son of Bettors Delight trained by J.D. Perrin and owned by Mark Jakubik of West Seneca, New York.
Goodnite Goodluck ($5.20), the favourite in the race, settled in second from post six as eventual second-place finisher King Otra (Shawn McDonough) cut all the fractions in the race of :28, :58, and 1:27.1. As the field hit the top of the stretch, Goodnite Goodluck unleashed a :28 last quarter-mile to put him two and a quarter lengths ahead at the finish line. Last week’s Open winner Dontgetinskyway (Dave McNeight III) came in third.
The $5,500 winner's share of the purse put Goodnite Goodluck’s seasonal earnings at $36,225 and lifetime bankroll as $258,612.
