Reg Gassien took an aggressive, tactical approach with Braveheartedmillie in Thursday’s $14,500 final of The Bride To Be Pacing Series at Kawartha Downs, and the game plan worked to perfection for the Tim Gillespie trainee

.

The four-year-old daughter of Grinfromeartoear-Millie And Mary was parked by Twin B Miracle to the quarter pole in :28.1 before touching down on the lead. Once she got there it was game over for everyone else. Braveheartedmillie fired through fractions of :57.4 and 1:26.4 before using a :29.1 final frame to seal the deal. She held on to win by a half-length margin over Twin B Miracle in 1:56. Almost Lucky grabbed the show dough.

Sent off as the 2-1 choice, Braveheartedmillie won for the second time in just three lifetime starts for partners Carolyn Jarrell of Roslin and Arlene MacIntyre of Frankford, ON. The lion’s share of the purse lifted the mare’s bankroll to $11,280.

Thursday’s program also featured the opening leg of The Bachelor Pacing Series. The $6,500 divisions went to Royal Bandit (1:55.1) and Wishiweregrey (1:57.2). The $14,500 final goes next Thursday at Kawartha Downs.
