Driver Sam Fillion fired Run Like Hill for the lead and led every step from there to take the $10,000 featured trot at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Wednesday (May 18).
The five-year-old Muscle Hill gelding grabbed the lead from Heavy Dude E past a :28 first quarter and snagged a breather heading by the stands and to a :58.2 half. Run Like Hill continued onto the second circuit under minimal pressure despite Mike The Knight, the 6-5 favourite, pulling to race on the rim but making only slight gains to three-quarters in 1:28.2. Heavy Dude E had room to pull from the pocket coming off the final turn and attacked Run Like Hill late, but the Francis Guillemette trainee dug in to win by a half length in 1:58.3. All Muscle N Sass rallied from second over for third with Daylon Midnight closing for fourth.
Owned by Guillemette, Run Like Hill won his sixth race from 17 starts this season and his eighth from 41 overall. He has banked $52,592 and paid $10 to win.
