Prepping to take on the world, driver Doug McNair stole the show with a half-dozen wins on Friday night's (May 17) harness racing card at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Among his highlights, McNair guided Seaswift Joy N ($2.90) to a repeat win in the featured $30,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Handicap Pace. Owned by Brad Grant and trained by Tony Alagna, the six-year-old Bettors Delight mare, who finished fifth in the recent Blue Chip Matchmaker Series final, overcame her outside post eight assignment and led all the way for her second straight Canadian win. She clocked panels of :27.2, :56.2 and 1:25.2 en route to a new lifetime mark of 1:52 flat. Cousin Mary edged out Double A Mint for the runner-up role a length behind.

McNair kicked off his winning crusade in reign to a pair of sophomore pacing fillies trained by his father Gregg, Sports Flix ($11.60) and the undefeated Swift Ally ($6.30).

He then drove the Patrick Shepherd-trained pacing gelding Santanna Tony ($27.60) and another sophomore filly pacer, Deb, for conditioner James 'Friday' Dean.

After his Preferred win, McNair capped off his six-win night aboard four-year-old pacing mare Dragon Lady Art ($4.90) for the Rod Boyd stable.

McNair, Standardbred Canada’s 2018 National Driving Champion and Canada’s representative in the upcoming 2019 World Driving Championship in Sweden, will be presented with his Canadian colours and driving helmet at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday, May 18.
