Thursday Racing Debuts With Return Of Meridian Magic

Maritime pacing star Meridian Magic will make her 2011 debut when Thursday night racing returns to Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park

tomorrow. Post time is 7 p.m.

Prince Edward Island's reining Horse of the Year Meridian Magic, well-known for stringing together a 25-race win streak during her first two seasons on track, won 16 of 17 races in 2010 including the Maritime Breeders final, Atlantic Breeders Crown and Island Breeders final while banking over $81,000.

The now four-year-old Largo-Hot Asset mare, with a $158,000-plus career bankroll, leaves from Post 4 in tomorrow evening’s Open Mares for driver Kenny Arsenault and owners Barry Martin and Jim Gillis of Sydney, Nova Scotia. The 11th race feature also includes Shooters Bay (Walter Cheverie), Kaitlyn Rose (Marc Campbell), Armbro Dandelion (Gary Chappell), KG Affair (Jody Hennessey) and Wild Heart (Joey Pineau).
